One of my favorite AM stations is 850-KOA, which is out of Denver. This station has a lot of interesting stuff. A lot of talk radio. Even though some of the talk shows are more conservatie than my liking, they are interesting to listen to nonetheless and good points are brought up. I always find it interesting to hear the traffic reports in the Denver metro. I can get this station up here in the Sioux Falls area, this station has a very strong signal.
Another favorite AM station is KCCR AM 1240 out of Pierre. Last time that I have heard this station was last June when passing through central SD on I-90. The station unfortunately has a weaker signal relative to other AM stations. Some of the commercials are hillarious in my opinion, but the station was interesting to listen to whe I lived in Pierre for a short time a few years back.
I should do a test to see if I can get other AM stations from far away. Once, I got one from Chicago.
On the radio, I have a bad habit of channel surfing, especially where there are commercial breaks.
Funny you mention KCCR. The AM side is good. They have a sister FM station 95.3 Jack FM... Jack being a syndicated radio station for couple of years it was BOB FM... Anyway I honestly thing Jack FM is Bob's gay brother.
KCCR does an excellent job with the news. However it can be painful to listen to Tony Mangan deliver the news. In a way he kinda reminds me of Les Nessman from WKRP in Cincinnati. If Tony gets excited its over. And anytime a thunderstorm comes near Pierre is on the radio. All joking aside the content of the news is some of the best in Pierre. Better than newspaper.
SDPR anywhere across the state. Repeaters keep it in range pretty much everyplace. WNAX AM for regional information east river. WCCO AM from the Twin Cities for even wider regional news. And, of course, KORN AM in Mitchell for the home town flavor.
104.7 Sioux Falls, 97.3 Sioux Falls, and 99.7 (Sioux Falls/Marshall) are all really great station, 97.3 and 104.7 have really good morning shows that I always love listening to.

Yeah, I love Trav & Tammy on 104.7 in the morning...
Wonder if I can get that in Pierre is conditions are right.
