I keep seeing a lot of people using frozen or canned vegies. How are the fresh vegies in South Dakota? Can you grow a garden in the summer? Would you need a green house?

Awesome! Sounds like your garden is wonderful. I grow tomatoes, all of my herbs, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, serano peppers, carrots, zucchini, strawberries, peaches, apricots, cherries, blood oranges, limes and pluots. Sounds like I will be happy there

How are you guys managing those great gardens?! I didn't put out a single plant last summer that the grasshoppers didn't devour in 48 hours. They even took chunks out of my baby fruit trees. Was it just New Underwood that suffered the teeming hordes? Or do you all have some magic Grasshopper-B-Gone repellants?

The farmer's market has neat stuff. Aside from produce you can also get local honey, meat and eggs. Sometimes there are plants and crafty items for sale too. I try to get there at least occasionally.

Dinner tonight was easy. Grabbed a couple of bell peppers, lopped off the tops. Stuffed in some tuna, onions and provolone cheese. Baked for 20 minutes at 350F and that was it.

kbat- I'm in California but considering the move. We don't have many grasshoppers here.

Dinner last night? Grilled chicken, steamed rice and zucchini. Delish!

The way we did it worked well. Enough turkey to enjoy it, not enough to be sick of it.
