I think it said something like february on the Door when I was there last, I am indeed waiting for this one to open too, Your right about HL, they do have some good deals but then again most of their stuff is overpriced and GAWDY looking as hell. Who would buy half the stuff they got in that store. And the other thing I hate about hobby lobby, 2 feet between the shelves with alll the GLASS, CERAMIC and BREAKABLES, Oh good lord if you had to go in there with more than 2 kids with ya. Duct Tape em together and carry them on your shoulder is the only way to bring 2 kids in there at once lol.

Ben Franklin is another good crafts store. Who's Hobby House too. I love Hobby Lobby too but the last time I was in there the cashier somehow started making racial remarks and it kind of turned me off from it.

No it was a cute older lady with a Charlie Brown tee shirt and stretchy pants. That's what made it so flooring!

Yeah Hobby lobby sucks, every once in a while you actually get a decent deal but most of the time their "deals" are false. ex: something that is normally $20 they will say "originally $39.99" and give it whopping 50% off!!! wow you just paid the regular price. But some of the cases even with the "sale" you still pay more than you would at wally world or other places..
how is that ben franklin store? i looked it up online and the pictures looked like the store was small.

Well I've been in who's hobby before also (ben franklin store, ya mean theres still one around????) and didn't care much for their prices either. Most of the model kits they have in there I can get online with shipping included for less than what they are charging. Whoevers less gets my money now a days, sorry to say that though cuz I would prefer to support local. Not like I get that many kits now a days anyway, Good lord the prices on Model Kits have damn near tripled since i was a kid. 5-10 dollar kits are now 30-60. And they wonder why kids are loosing interest in the hobby. How many kids you know that can walk into a hobby store now and be able to afford a model kit. Let alone have the attention span to put it together. Its all about instant gratification now, sad to say, They want it already put together for them. I can't even get my 9 yr old interested in them, till they are put together. Boy at 9yrs old I was a model building nut. Loved the hell out of them, now with a monthly paycheck I can't even afford them anymore.
I remember about 6 yrs ago walking into one of them Kay b Toy store outlet stores(kind of like a Kay b Clearance store, got all the stuff from warehouses and clearanced it there), and low and behold they had 30+ Model kits of the Old AMT Star Trek Klingon Bird of Prey model kits. One of the better kits AMT did of the Star Trek Line. I bout doodooed my drawers and fell back into it when i saw the price tag of 2.99 each, and then a sign saying buy one model get one at half price. I bought every dang blasted one they had. Wife bout killed me but I couldn't beleive it, a model kit I could afford LOL.
Now we do other things, Candle making, Bead Work, leatherworking, woodworking. And now can barely afford that stuff either. A michaels will be a Sight for Sore eyes if they are anything like the Michaels back in Omaha we used to hit when we lived there.
How are the prices at the Ben Frankling Store?? Is it in Rapid City?? I remember going to the one in Des Moines with my Grandma all the time and the wonderful things they had in there. Do I need to Duct Tape my kid when going in there???

Ben Franklin is smaller than Michael's and Hobby Lobby but they have some nice stuff too. I think you're kids will be alright going in there too because they don't sell vases and all the foofy decor that Hobby Lobby and Pier 1 Imports does. It's mostly crafts, models, board games, framing, and ceramics if I remember right. It's been a while since I've been in there.
I heard they are moving across Mountain View Road next to Walgreen's.
