With I-29, it should formatted similar to the I-29 north of 12th St where it has three lanes on each side with an auxillary lane. 69th St. will go through the I-29/I-229. I think that Marion Road should be extended as a service road from 57th St. to 85th St. Tea will grow northwards towards 85th St. and this road can serve as another entry point into Tea 5-10 years down the road. This will take some pressure off of the Tea exit and will bring opportunities for additional retail and businesses in Tea with close proximity to the interstate and Tea will extend out to I-29 in its comprehensive growth plans.

SD 100 should be completed and the part going west of the city should be completed from I-29 to Tea-Ellis Rd. in the immediate future with a widening of the road from two to four lanes.

The roads in Lennox need to be redone and have curb and gutter. The roads in the town have potholes and the roads are bad this time of the year with the freezing/thawing issue that makes roads rougher.

From the peanut gallery, I think that Southeastern should be paved from 57th St. to Harrisburg to provide Harrisburg residents with another route to Sioux Falls and it will indirectly help with the east-side development. The growth in southeastern SF south of 57th and east of Cliff will likely pick up in the next few years with a number of areas already platted.

I will add more later. If I add more now, I will end up writing a 1,000 page novel.
Chris, you must be a road-geek like me. Honestly, I don't think that Marion Road can be extended past 57th Street... Theres a "wetland" type of thing south of the current termination, plus a power substation to the south of that.
The county road between 29 and Tea is need of widening... That new stoplight helps, but more needs to be done...obviously Lincoln County cant afford it. Hopefully Tea & the SDDOT can work together.

The whole 229/29/Louise/57th is just awful when everyone gets off of work. Like I said, poor planning by the SDDOT... I could've done it a lot better

I would say, without hesitation, that the 29/90 interchange needs flyover ramps. I absolutely hate the weaving that takes place on southbound 29 when trying to get onto 90 eastbound.

For those of you concerned with the I-29/I-229 Area, the SDDOT is currently studying the area for future improvements and would welcome direct input from all of you as the planning study progresses. A webpage is set up specifically to keep people informed on the study's progress. The webpage can be found at http://www.sddot.com/pe/projdev/planning_ss_I29.asp.

I have seen the website and appreciate that the state is looking into fixing the I-29/I-229 area. The funding problems are a bugaboo or a vexing issue and wish that there was better funding to speed the project up. Hopefully, Obama's stimilus plan may contain this project in its infrastructure deal. This area desparately needs to be fixed and is very dangerous at the morning and evening rush hours and when it is busy. I drive on this stretch often, often as a necessary route into Sioux Falls.

Although I know this will probably never happen, I would like a connection of 26th Street across those stupid golf courses. Right now, there is no connection across the Big Sioux River between 12th & 41st streets.
I'm not sure on the whole story behind this...but I know that they've tried to make it happen.

Steve, How do I input my thoughts? I'd like to come to the meetings, but I have been unable to attend.
I understand that large projects like these take time and a large amount of money.
My big concern is why can't an interchange be completed at I-29/I-229/69th Street? 229/Louise/57th gets backed up every day.

And obviously, there is no chance of an interchange on I-29 & 57th... Poor planning on the city's part!

Back in the late 90s, Gary Hanson, the Mayor of SF at the time along with some of the leaders of SF, pushed for 26th St. going through the golf courses. Alternatives such as extending 18th St. or 22nd St. have been discussed during the time period. The golf courses and some of the bigwigs had a fit that the city wants to build a major road through their golf courses ($$$). Also, there was concern about the additional traffic by neighborhoods of more people using 26th St. I can understand the neighborhoods, mostly middle class and middle of the road, but the rich whine the loudest when the government wants condemn their areas. I agree with you MJ1986, but it is basically the case of the people with $$$ having a fit with the idea of a four-laned road going through their playground.

I would like to add that the projects take time and money, but how many accidents, close calls, and fatalities does it have to take before the governement acts on improving its infrastructure. I would be more than willing to pay an extra five cents of gas tax or pay an extra $10-$20 for annual registration for my car if it is used to make roads safer and in better condition.

I would also suggest to redoing the entire road system out in black hawk.... but they are already doing that...... I was hoping to be able and get on the interstate via peaceful pines by January at the latest... but it’s not happening. the traffic in the morning and at 5:00 pm gets backed up at the exit 51 rail road crossing (which I might add is a 6 inch pit). It’s pretty bad when there’s a line.... to get off the interstate at 51 going past the new exit 52. We need to get this exit open ASAP and get the light up and running. It’s kind of bad when it takes 35 min to get to work, and 20 min of that is just to get out of black hawk

I can remember driving on I-90 near Black Hawk and its old set up was rather wierd and I can see why it is getting fixed.
