check the website - travelinfomap.com - it will show you the entire state of South Dakota and a number of attractions that aren't exactly tourist traps either. Also there is an events schedule for each town that has events. Enjoy your visit - it is really a great state.

Hi all!At first a little Sorry for my bad english, is not perfect, but i hope, u understand, what i mean. I´m from Germany. Last year (May) we traveld around the states from Tucson/AZ to Sioux Falls, where our relations lived. I think, u´ve forgotten one place at your Top Attractions in SD. The Pioneer Auto Show in Murdo. Was really interesting to see all the cars and cycles and many other things at this place. Greetings from GermanyDieter Claussen (ditschi)Dithmarschen - the last Adventure in Europe

And greetings to you, too. You're right. The museum in Murdo is really neat. One time when we were there, they had a lot of "Elvis" things like his motorcycle and a few of his outfits, etc. It's a nice place.

Many things...lol, we started at Tucson/AZ and drive with Ed´s Truck (Dodge Ram - nice vehicle, specially for a german) at first to Hoover Dam, than Las Vegas, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Pikes Peak, Silverton, Denver, Fort Laramie and than up to South Dakota. Start at SD with Custer State Park ( woooowww, so much Buffalo´s), Ellsworth Air Force Base ( the unbelievable story of "Bismarck" at the AFB) - anybody knows, if its true with Bismarck, the Dog ?? - was very cold in may 2008 at ellsworth, only 40 degrees F, Mt. Rushmore, Corn Palce in Mitchell, Murdo, Wall Drug and then finaly the last 7 days at Sioux Falls. We make a short visit to Primghar, Lake Okoboji. Was a wonderfull time with our relatives !!!! often i phone to her. last time x-mas eve. was very cheap to phone from germany to the states. 45 minutes cost 1 €, 1,60 $. At Sioux Falls we saw many things and places too. The son from Ed/Ellie is pilot f-18 at ANG. Ed himself prepared oldtimers. was interesting to see all these old cars. one time, we are shopping at the grocery and ed came with his Ford from 1927 and pick us up..lol . I hope, me and my wife can stay at the states again.

You must be talking about the UFO incident when you said "Bismarck at the AFB". It's fascinating! Jammie & I are the paranormal people on the SD forum . I'm so happy you had a good time in South Dakota. Hopefully you can come back soon.

Ya' gotta give it to Storybook Land in Aberdeen as the best, low cost entertainment in the state. All the new camping, the new $1M visitors center, the OZ festival, it's just to good to miss!

Storybook Land is the "best, low cost entertainment in the state".

Storybook Land is ok but I don't know if I'd put it as one of the top attractions of the state. It may be low cost but there are a ton of low cost attractions in the area. I'd maybe list it as a top attraction in the Aberdeen area.
Some other nice listings here: South Dakota Travel Guide and State Resource.
