Yes, I get that sometimes when I travel to other parts of the nation. Some think that we all have "Fargo" accents. With me, I may have a dilluted version of it although my accent would allign more with that of Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Northern Kansas, Northern Missouri, Indiana as opposed to South Dakota north of I-90/Brookings/Huron, Minnesota, N. Dakota, and parts of Wisconsin.
Kind of interesting to say the least.

I hate when people confuse Sioux Falls and Sioux City! Barack Obama did when he visited Sioux Falls earlier this year, but I'll let that one slide .

Oh yes, I remember the Obama mixup. I had to chuckle at that one. I think that he was on a very busy schedule and candidates goof up here and there. This would be a funny story to tell the children and grandchildren years down the road.

I laughed too... and I don't blame him! Its a lot of traveling, and a busy schedule.
Outside of that, I've still seen people confuse Sioux Falls and Sioux City.

Sioux Falls and Sioux City are about 100 miles apart so I can sort of see someone mixing them up.
Some of the things you guys have said are funny and jaw dropping.
Come on Arizona really?? Someone thought South Dakota was near Arizona??

Now why are people picking on Iowa? Iowa is Nirvana. Yes sir...it is the state of perfect nothingness.

This is the most funniest amusing post I have read! My family was from Mass. so I grew up in Calif. with grandparents talking Bostonish and my dad still has a accent..not to mention some of the family migrated from Quebec! French/boston! LOL
I can usually pick out those accents pretty quick. Though our realtor is from Wyoming and I swear she sounds from Michigan!
Love those accents....

Often you can hear middens (mittens), buddons (buttons) and Soufdakota. It really is regional.
