Smile Looking for pet-friendly house to rent in Brookings area?

Hi all. I'm currently living near Yankton & planning to move to Brookings...and I am having trouble finding rental houses advertised on the Net. So I figured I'd try here and see if anyone can point me in the right direction?

I'm wanting to return to college (I'm 26). I chose SDSU since I want to major in animal or dairy science (haven't quite decided yet).

Anyhow, I want to find a *house* to rent close to Brookings. Within 30 miles of town, or so....commutes don't bother me much, I was an OTR trucker for 5 years . My husband still drives OTR.

Ideally I want to find a nice, quiet place out in the country....that's what I'm living in now. If it wasn't for wanting school, I'd stay here forever. I have 2 small, quiet, well trained, very clean dogs (Basenjis). And my landlord will provide a good reference.

Craigslist doesn't seem to be much help, most of the rentals are in Sioux Falls or Rapid City. I posted a "housing wanted" ad there and plan to re-post up until summer. I'd also planned on making the drive up to Brookings and just hitting the streets, hit all the small towns in the area, talk to people and see if anybody has a farmhouse, duplex, barn or cow shed for rent *grin*....

Aaaanyway....is there anybody familiar with Brookings who can tell me where to start, where to look or someone to contact? I appreciate any info. Thanks!!
