There are several schools in our state who started doing the 4 day school week. I've seen it broken down into minutes and they seem to have as much class time as those with a five day school week. It still confuses me, but the numbers jived.

It does appear to be working quite well and many are pleased with the results. As far as your other question~I don't personally know what the parents do with their children on the fifth day. Babysitter, maybe if they're still quite young?

I think the four day school week is a good idea because then school doesn't get out until 4 and parents usually work until 4 or 5. It allows more parents the opportunity to pick up their child and those that get off later don't have to pay as much for babysitting.

A lot of people don't work on Fridays too so it gives them more time to spend with their families and those who do work have an easier time finding a babysitter because a daycare will more likely take a kid they're going to have all day than one they're just going to have for a couple hours.
