Oh I know, that is why I am leaving selling our home to the professionals (bless them and their well-worded adjectives ). I have honestly used humor a lot here. It is a crap shoot every day we open our blinds. Truth told, I know we'll sell and move. Honestly, I am worried sick about not only the elderly, but the young families and so many people here. This recession is as bad as I've seen in my lifetime. We're not as bad as MI, but.....
Good to know about the Dollar Stores. I have saved between about $10 and sometimes up to $15 per week using Target and Walmart and the Dollar Stores.
I do get what you're saying about the winters. I did not live in SD, but I lived a long, long time in WI. I remember plugging in the engines, I remember the snow covered ice and ice covered snow (I even remember what we felt was the difference). I saw something written on one of these forums that said something like...you can't eat the scenery. I'd add, fun in the sun isn't all cracked up to be.

Hey AJ, thanks.
Watcha Eatin thread would be a good thread for some recipes. That was the original purpose of that thread if I remember correctly lol.
Yeah they have A Family Dollar In Belle Fourche, I have yet to see a Dollar Tree though in the area, maybe I am missing it, anyone else in the Belle, Spearfish, Sturgis Area know of a Dollar Tree. Back In Iowa we had the Dollar General along with the Family Dollars and that helped a bunch.
Up here in Buffalo, we have the Mom and Pop Grocery, Mom and Pop Hardware, Post Office, Bank, 2 Gas stations, 2 Bars, Ranch Supply and thats about it. Population 300 if that helps ya out any LOL.
I get paid once a month so we head to Spearfish Once a month for Grocery Shopping. 6 bucks a Gallon of Milk, or even better yet 3 bucks for a cheap loaf of bread up here in buffalo really warrants we do the shopping 80 miles away. It costs us maybe 4 gallons of Gas, 5 tops, to spend a little less and get more for our money at Wally World. Living Paycheck to Paycheck really sucks sometimes. And from what I understand theres more and more living paycheck to paycheck every month now.
We've finally managed to get 4 credit cards and accounts paid off. So thats a good thing. We still have the Dentures thing with my wife to pay off and then my big credit card that I have been making about 20-40 dollars above the minimum on to get it paid off early. Just sick and tired of giving my money away every month so we are buckling down hard to get everything paid of ASAP and hopefully sooner than the normal payments would be.

I walked thru the $Tree in Mitchell, yesterday. The $Tree in Huron is "better" or maybe just bigger?
Stopped in to get 2 gift bags, for the grandboyz "back to school" gift/stuff, and I was out of there, for a $10 bill.
OMG.....The prices of kids clothing, when we were in Sioux Falls, last week. Ouch. Little size 4 slim jeans cost as much as my jeans. Thank God, for rummage sales! At least it's possible, to buy some of their clothing, from rummage sales/thrift shops & off set the price, of the "cool"/new stuff! (And I do wish my washing machine would quit eatting socks)

HMMM, your washing machine must be the same brand as mine cause mine eats sox, too.
Homesteader, you are so smart to get those credit cards paid off. OMG the interest rates some of them charge if you don't pay the balance every month. I don't know how anyone can afford it.
I used to like the dollar store that was on Havens Street, but it closed. The Family Dollar store on the north end of Main is pretty good, too. I always felt the $Tree was so crowded with things. I'm really not much of a dollar store shopper. I'm more of a Kmart shopper. Of course, I always watch the sales and dig through clearance racks, but you wouldn't believe some of the deals I've gotten.

Credit cards are good for building credit, but can be bad too. Luckily if I do have a balance on mine, its only a few bucks each month... but still... that's $$$ going to the credit card companies.
I'm not really a dollar store shopper either... but I do kinda like Dollar General.
I hate to say it, but I usually shop at Walmart for everyday supplies and usually groceries. Sometimes I'll hit up Hy-Vee. Or if I'm feeling lazy, I'll go to the Sunshine Foods a few blocks away.

We are in Belle, and I have not seen a Dollar Tree here anywhere! I have recently started back in seriously couponing though, and I love to see the faces of the cashiers when I go through! Last week, I saved $98 at Safeway (they double coupon!), and my bill was a little over $40 when I was done. Last night, I went to target and saved $47 - paid $38 and was out the door (not as good as the Safeway trip, but better than nothing)! Got to love it! It takes some time, but so worth it!
PS: If you are heading to Spearfish, milk is still $1.99 a gallon at Walgreens (new store next to Safeway).

Great Heads Up, I'll be in town on the 2nd or 3rd for Grocery shoping and will definately see if they still have the 1.99 a gallon milk. We usually by 2-4 gallons every month and when get home put all but one in the freezer. Then thaw out as needed.
Does the Rapid City Journal Sunday Edition have the grocery coupons in them?????
Was thinking of getting a subscription if they do. Coupons are nice.

We went to the Corn Palace Festival/Carnival, last night. Took the 4yr old Gson. What sticks out in my mind, is no one was playing the "games". I don't remember seeing anyone, carrying any of the "prizes" around on the midway, either. Looked like "food" vendors were very slow, as well. Just couldn't see paying $5, for a "hot dog on a stick".........
The kiddie rides were $3.00/3 tickets, each. Most of the rides were not "full", and there wasn't much "waiting in line".

I think most of the grocery coupons are in the Wednesday. It seems all the department stores and other things are in the Sunday edition.
