I have been disappointed with accuweather I used it two years ago and they were wrong more than they were right. The NWS and Kelo have been more accurate than accuweather.

I have one as well... The key is to program it, so it doesn't go off for a county that is nowhere near you. I have mine programmed for Minnehaha County only.
Mine woke me up twice in the middle of the night last week. I don't remember the 1st time, but the second time was around 4 AM...

So far I've been very satisfied with AccuWeather on my cell. I've checked the radar on it quite a few times when I've been home so I could check on KELO and NOAA and it's been right on with them. For me I don't care about their (or anyone's) prognostications but rather I want to see the radar when I'm out.
A few minutes ago I did go to their on line addy and I wasn't impressed with what I saw there - BUT I am very happy with them on my cell.

Mine is set to cover a larger area. I have had ppl call me while traveling, & ask me WHAT they are about to drive into. both on I 29 & I 90.....
as well as knowing the storms location, I may need to locate Mr. Debey, and see WHAT county he is in. Mine is set to alert for several bordering counties. And.......have you checked the back up battery lately? We've had the generator running twice, since May.......

I like using an app called berryweather on my blackberry. They just recently updated it to include radar which comes in handy when in town or trying to sleep(and don't want to turn the tv on to the weather channel) and I want to know which directions the storms are coming from. Just need to invest in a weather radio. The weather alerts from berryweather are a few mins off since the shortest interval to update them is every 5 minutes.

help please
What part of Pennington County is Rapid City? I set my cell phone alerts on National Weather Service from Fargo to Rapid City.. but the last couple weeks Ive been getting severe weather warning texts like crazy but mostly nothing even near us. I ended up just canceling the texts cause it was annoying. It worked great up there but not so much here.
Also, does anyone know a good online map that might help me learn the counties and cities around here a little better. (other than the basic google/msn maps?) I like to know when bad weather is around.. but it gets annoying to have to look it up constantly to find out if its even close to us.

I believe the powers who may or may not be, or think they are, consider Rapid city in central Pennington County.
The county runs all the way to Wyoming boarder to just east of Wall.

There is a NWS in Rapid so set it for that to get the relatively local alerts..
Rapid is very close to the northern boundary with Meade county but when you get farther east there is a 'blob' that sticks up much farther north. It's probasbly aout in the middle of the county as far as east to west goes.
