No8, we actually have gotten to see some of the hail's handiwork with cars that were on the interstate yesterday. We thought it was a new style to use plastic instead of glass. I know, that's not very nice.
Snowy, we turned out ok right where I live. We did have a fast and torrential rain, but it actually was pretty shortlived. We didn't even have the horrible winds or hail. BUT just a couple miles south of here, they had grapefruit sized hail. We were extremely fortunate and I'm sorry that everyone didn't turn out that way.
AND happy moving and enjoy your new diggs.

Sorry about that. Saw that weather boiling up early. But didn't think I should make the call being this far away.
I am a weather spotter and have access to several radars that each in their own, tell a different story. Saw that storm boil up and didn't trust what I saw. guess it would be better to cry wolf and be wrong then it would be to keep quiet.
I would have been relying strictly on radar and not observations. Didn't want to do that.

McPherson and Brown Counties were also hit tonight. I talked to my dad tonight... Very heavy rain, very strong winds... but, luckily, no hail!

Well I was playing the BigHorns last night. Was caught in a rainstorm at 8500 feet ASL... Yeah I was soaked to the bone, and the group started to suffer from the first states of hypothermia....
It cut my adventure short.... Oh well.

I thought you folks would get a kick out of this. Today, I was up in the Big Horns. Got snowed on. 38 degrees, raining and snowing. About 9,000 ft up.
Reason I'm posting this is, it's headed your way. hahaha Right now, I'm home, down on the bottom of Five Miles. It's only 53 degrees. It's AUGUST! What is happening with Global Warming? hahaha
A few years ago, well, back in 72, we got snowed in up on top. 4th of July, snowed in, couldn't get back to work.
But, just so you know, the weather is headed for South Dakota. Just thought it was funny. I went up in shorts and a t-shirt. Wow, was that wrong or what??? hahaha

I was west of Buffalo when I started off my day. It was raining. Kinda glad we slid off the Mountains when we did. Drove home in rain pretty much all the way to Rapid.
I was having a great time up there. I think I have found a new hiding spot.

Jammie - I'm glad you didn't get the hail that was falling all around you. Saw a few pictures, it looked pretty ugly. My mom's up in Aberdeen, they got the heavy rain but no hail there either.
Had a sister in law out in Sturgis over rally week, her boyfriend's bike and truck got a little damage but not bad.

the "zone of death" is making it's return! Although eastern SD really is a great place to live, Sioux Falls a wonderful city, good jobs, good economy, beautiful summers, the cold that just never lets up, is making it's return... and I think it will always kind of get to me...
you can kind of see where that cold is on the old trusty map I made here in the spring.... it starts, somewhere in west central ND, stretches down through the middle of South Dakota say just around or east of Mitchell or so, goes south to around Sioux Falls or just slightly north or south depending on the day (there can be a 10 degree difference in temps between sioux falls and brookings during winter and spring) and goes east into western minnesota, up into NE MN and northern WI.
In this area it just stays cold for a long time... cool by Late September, Cool into early May. Areas west benefit from the downsloping mountain winds which break up cold spells with mild air in the basically all year, though it can still get very cold there obviously.. areas to the east benefit from low pressure systems which bring up warm air from the gulf of mexico, though it can get cold there too, but not as cold, in say Wisconsin... and right in between, you have the "zone of death"
An area, especially north of sioux falls, like say Brookings and watertown, stretching northward and covering 2/3 of North Dakota and the northern 2/3 of Minnesota, where it's just much chillier then everywhere around, and the cold is broken up much less frequently by warm fronts and of course mountain winds.
Really you have microclimates all within the mid-west due to these factors.
Here's the map I made back there in spring when I was getting annoyed by the low 60's in May.. I would probably extend the lines a bit further south and west, say to around sioux falls, and west out to around mitchell, with a little dash going eastward farther south into minnesota and central wisconsin, since by the time the gulf warmth gets to those areas, it's not quite as potent.
once I get 5 years in at my job, I'll transfer down to a plant in say iowa or missouri.. it would be like a completely different climate, where the time to enjoy outdoor activities is extended by a good month or two in Iowa alone. I love taking drives to mitchell in the spring on days when it's 10-15 degrees warmer. Rant over.

Today in Belle, we are enjoying a crisp 59* fall day...the rest of the week:
Tues: High: 78° Low: 50°
Wed: High: 75° Low: 40° (beginning to cloud up and get windy...)
Thurs: High: 46° Low: 34° (nasty weather moving in!)
Fri: High: 48° Low: 32° (yucky stuff moving out!)
Onto beautiful, crisp fall temps to pick pumpkins and view the leaves with this weekend!
[I guess it's all just a matter of perspective, eh?]
