I know the "Crazy Weather Thread" pertains to South Dakota weather, but right now I would gladly trade some snow and cold for the miserable wind and rain with thunder and lightning we are experiencing on the Oregon Coast. There was a tornado in Lincoln City, about 30 miles north of us, that damaged some houses. We have never had a tornado in the 30 plus years we have lived here! Guess there is a first time for everything.

Priairie, fortunately we aren't having snow and cold. The Hills area did get hit with 4 or 5 snowfalls, but southeastern So. Dak. had one snow/sleet event and nothing stayed on the ground.

We actually hit 77 deg. a few days ago and our temps have been around 60. Our autumn started out well below average, but now it's been very nice. Thurs. we're supposed to have temps at around 70. One good thing is we've had a lot of sunny days.

I stand by my prediction that we'll have a very nice winter. Probably wishful thinking....

I hope your prediction is accurate, Jammie...I'm still planning that exploratory trip to Sioux Falls in late Feb., early March...wish I could get out there now, but such is life...

I live near Atlanta currently, and the weather was gorgeous last week. Now, however, we're supposed to get a lot of rain from Ida (like we need more rain...we got a ton of it in Sept./Oct. with major flooding in various parts of the state) A little cold weather (minus the heavy precip.) would be welcome right about now...at least by me!

Not so big - 35 inches of snow. I'm used to 100+ so that's more than OK. The wind chill is the big thing for me. I just bought a new winter coat.

I did sign up to be a KELO weather watcher though. I hope I get it - I've been a weather nut for many years and used to cover weather for a newspaper and a radio station in Central Illinois several years ago (fun, fun).

Hey, I'm also a weather nut. We watched that, too. Kind of interesting that El Nino doesn't necessarily mean it'll be above average or that we'll have less snowfall. I still say it'll be a decent winter though. BUT to me, a nice winter would be hitting a low of 60 degrees.

Well if we get any snow it is going to be busy time for me. I would like a few plowable events. The money is good, and the work is fun... (can't you tell the season is early?

I don't see any nasty weather for Eastern South Dakota in the near future. This is what I've got. A little chilly, but not too bad on ThanksGiving.

A little snow yesterday in Cleveland but I've hardly noticed the weather with what's been going on here. Been in and out of the hospital visiting my mom this holiday weekend. Hoping for good weather on the flight back Monday. Hear its been downright pleasant in Sioux Falls this weekend.
