YES!!! A winter storm watch for Brookings.. I hope we get 5 inches. Of course that means, for brookings, that the days of us getting above 32 degrees are over until about March, at least if history is any indication, but that's alright, the snow is so pretty! BRING IT ON! I bet we only get a couple inches though, they always over-estimate the snowfall amounts.

Snow day?????? That is when a bunch of us drive around in our 4 wheel drives and pull out unsuspecting tourists. hahaha

I can't remember the last snow day I had. I used to drive for a living hauling rail roaders to and from their trains. If the interstate was shut down, no problem, I would take state highways, if they were shut down, I'd take county roads. Never got stuck or stranded.

I don't have a luxury of a snow day. If I can't make it work they come and get me. Or if I am already at work I am staying put.

Last weeks snow was a test for my car. I was impressed with my rear wheeled drive car. It handled snow like a champ.

I prefer rear wheel drive. I can loose traction and spin, but I never loose steering.

Yup. and the weight split is nearly evenly. The snow gets into the treads and the ride isn't as smooth.

I grew up in the Rapid City area, the hills, the....... Ok, we won't admit everything. haha

Rapid City was a town of 55,000. We went to dances 21 miles away to New Underwood, or 16 miles away to Hermosa.

I will admit this and please don't tell no one.

One night, I went to New Underwood to a dance. A friend was playing. I'm kind of scared to mention his name. I won't.

We got kind of wound up tight and had a good time. I left and headed back to Rapid City. Was three sheets to the wind. Was about 3 miles from Ellseworth and had to take a leak. The snow was blowing the temps were low. I stopped and run around my "55 Chevy". Come back and the door was locked. Stood out there for about 20 minutes. HP that stopped was laughing so hard he really couldn't stand upright, like a proper Highway Patrol. We got the car unlocked and I went on my way.

Oh crap. Don't explain my upbringing. That area is my ground.

Valentines day 98 was almost like that. Was with friend and her sister for most of the evening. I drop them off at their house I was heading home, I had turned on the upper spring creek road. Well I had too much coke cola, eyes watering teeth floating... I hurried up and stopped the car and cows and a flat rock paint the picture... There was no way I was going to make it home. That was the worst.

Please tell me the wind in Rapid isn't as bad as it is in Omaha. Please. Even if you're lying to me.
