$50 a room? Dang. That gets a almost decent room on Rochester Minnesota in the middle of February.

Wait until the day after Memorial Day though. That $59.99 will turn right into $159.99 per person. OUCH!

I am thinking that might more the norm. I also think that lodging will be more affordable this year in hope of luring business.

Just had a quick question for the Hills folks.....has anyone been to the new Miner's Maze at Putz N Glo Minigolf yet? If so is it any fun or is it geared toward young children?

True... I used to work for a national hotel booking call center in high school. The prices slowly progress, with the highest rates in the middle of summer.
I had quite a few calls about the Sturgis Rally. 9 times out of 10, everything was booked full. The closest available room was Kadoka, Murdo, maybe Hot Springs... or well into Wyoming. It's crazy how much they charge for rooms during the rally... I remember seeing a single hotel room for over $300... No joke!

Correct (partially), The 1880s Train is right behind the school here in Hill City, it is a gorgeous ride from here to Keystone along the Old Hill City Highway. (Which is also a gorgeous drive!) If you are planning on seeing a olot of things and staying relatively cheap, Hill City is the place to stay. You are 6 miles from Cosmos, 12 miles from Keystone, Mt Rushmore, and Custer. In Keystone there is The Presdients Slide, you ride a ski car up to the top of the mountain, and can ride it back down or when you are at the top you can eat, have a beer, see some beautiful sights, and then ride these louge like one man cars down to the bottom...IT IS CRAZY!!!!!) If you are into Gold Panning, there is a spot to go and buy a bag of dirt and pan, (you will find placer gold) The Cosmos is kinda freaky but awesome none the less, if you havent seen a ball roll uphill you will there. There are many places to do helecopter rides and hot air ballon rides. The excitement out here is almost endless if your not a slouch. :-) Up early and to bed late.

I have a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with a garage and huge front and back yards in Hill City. I get 700 per week for 3 weeks from a couple out of california that ride thier bikes here and rent just my room in my basement. Granted they have free rein of the house, can do laundry, can park thier bikes in the garage, and can party till the sun comes up lol.

Out here now. Outside of town. Windows open. The air is fresh and crisp. Hint of pine and smells of spring. Couple of miles away from Highway 79 and listening to the trucks run down the highway. It doesn't get any better than this.
