Default Chef Louie's, Mitchell SD?

Last year in the fall, we passed through Mitchell on our way home and decided to give Chef Louie's a try. We were very impressed (except it was a little spendy, but that's ok once in a while). Now our anniversary is coming up this weekend, and I mentioned at work that we may go there, and someone said that recently it had been closed by the health inspectors. Anyone know of this?

Years ago, I had a few meals in the Brig, but it was on the army dime, so you never really got the higher end stuff, but people say that the food is good there too.

Any other options in town? We also like the Scoreboard, but probably not for an anniversary.

Leroy...have you ever gone to the Cavaret, in Carthage?
I'm always just as happy with the Prime Time, in Huron, as I am anyplace, in Mitchell......

No I haven't. Is it pretty good? We'll have to give it a try.

And yeah, a few years ago the Prime Time was on a bad streak, but they're back. We prefer the filet over prime though, so don't ever go on weekends.

Oh, another place I'd forgotten was the Depot, but a couple of years they made a really bad blt for me. Don't know how you can mess that up, but they did. Most people recommend it however.

Our out of town place used to be Twin Lakes, but that still sits empty I guess.

we go to the Cavaret, a couple times a year. They get pretty busy, on some weekends.. they have a lot of memorabelia (sp) and photo displays, from the filming of "Into the Wild". We have never gotten a "bad" meal, there.....
The Depot has always been over rated, in my book..Eatten there twice, in 20 years & not impressed either time......
Ruby Tuesdays was a one time only & will NEVER go back......
Whiskey Creek.....prime rib is "precooked" before they get it. (I asked), not impressed, there, either. Maybe I'm to picky? We honestly don't go out for a meal, often.
I have never been to The Brigg......
I miss Twin Lakes, too.....but, again, we maybe got there once a year.....

Yeah, as far as I know. That was another option my wife threw out. I think they close in the winter, but should be going by now (I could be wrong on the winter thing). We were there last summer. I've never been disappointed there, except possibly with the wait but I'm usually ok with that as long as it isn't out of hand, and they are really trying to get caught up.

I've tried neither Ruby Tuesday (Mitchell's anyway) or Whiskey Creek. I've heard on Whiskey Creek everywhere from great to awful.

and also a place near Lake Thompson/Lake Preston.....(North Shore) that friends have said was worth their drive....
the casino @ Lower Brule has a chef that does awesome prime rib.....the guys stop there, after fishing.

Leroy, you're correct. Chef Louie's was shut down several months ago and I also heard it didn't pass inspection. Word on the street is that they got everything cleaned up and updated and up to code. I think they reopened quite a while ago already.

Have a wonderful anniversary!!!

Oh, and did you consider the drive-in? I don't know how many years you've been married, but if you're from my era, you may enjoy going to the Starlite for a movie since you'll be here in town.

Yeah, we talked about that. We are thinking about catching the Trek movie though (she's not a Trek but I'm a bit of one), and I think I'll need to see that in a theater.

I remember my first trip to the drive through in Huron. Our boss took us about 14 year olds to (I can't remember one) and something called Scavenger Hunt. It was pretty funny. I got so filled up on candy and pop though, that I lost it when I got home. Luckily our boss was a trustworthy guy, or my folks would have thought we were drinking.

Mamacert is on a distinguished road
We are planning a trip to Mitchell in June. We will be pulling our RV and wondering your recommendation on an RV park? Thanks
