Question Hiking in Fort Pierre Nat'l Grasslands

We will be staying overnight in Pierre in early June with the following night booked at one of the cabins in Badlands NP, before heading on to several nights in the Black Hills. I think we would like to get out during that short drive to the Badlands and do a bit of a walk-about in the Fort Pierre Grasslands. Can anyone suggest a place to park and hike? Could find very little info on these options through any of the NPS or State info that I saw on-line. Seems as though it's bisected North-to-South by Highway 83 with plenty of access via roads into the interior but it's difficult to determine which of those are suitable for passenger vehicles.

I am not sure of any walking trails on the grasslands. Plenty of hunting and fishing opportunities. I am not positive. 83 cuts through the eastern edge of the grasslands. US Forest Service has an office in Fort Pierre. On the "main drag" they might be able to offer up some more information.
