Free Fishing and Free Park Entrance Weekend. May 15-16-17
You might call May 15-16-17 "Opportunity Days."
The Game, Fish and Parks Department will be hosting it's annual Free Fishing and Free Park Entrance Weekend. That means you have the opportunity to fish public waters, excluding tribal trust land, from 12:01 a.m. on Friday through midnight on Sunday without having to have a fishing license. One important thing to remember, even though you may fish without a license all other rules must be followed.
Free fishing is just a small part of the opportunity. You have an even greater opportunity to open up the wonders of South Dakota to family, friends and neighbors by taking someone fishing. They may never have experienced the freshness and beauty that surrounds the water, or the excitement of catching their first fish.
Take the opportunity and introduce someone to a lifetime of fishing. As a bonus, you may enjoy your time in one of our state park or recreation areas where no entrance fee is required for this weekend.
