Question 2009 Volksmarch - Crazy Horse Monument

Anyone out there participate on this in the past?

I'm under the impression that it's about a 6 mile hike but I'm unsure if that is from the museum or a different starting location? How much you can add on to that length to account for the walk in from the parking?

It appears that you can show up as early as 6:30 to register and start at 8:00 am or as late as 1 pm. Is it reasonable to think that the later you show, the further away you will be parking or does the parking ease up right before 1 pm?

Thanks again for everybody's great advice on this board!

I think if you show up about two hours early you won't have any trouble with parking. The Volksmarch can get pretty crowded but remember that if you show up early it gives you time to see the exhibits and understand the monument more. I think it is about miles roundtrip and it's a steep climb. My grandma did it when she was in her 70s though so it must not be too bad.
