Apparently this happened last (Wednesday) night.

Additionally from KELO:

There was an article in our local paper about this today. It looks like they're pretty sure it was an accident. Someone still lost their life, but it's just not as horrible as if it had been a murder.

There was also an article in the paper about the guy who killed one of our deputy sheriff's a couple months ago. He's got a one million dollar bond. Sounds about right to me. This incident has our law enforcement departments thinking about sending out two people in place of just one. Sounds like a good idea to me. I just hope there's enough tax dollars to pay for it. Their safety is worth so much.

they can raise my taxes. Just PROVE that's where the tax raise is going.
Thank you, to all the Law Enforcement Officers, who protect South Dakota. I join with you, this Memorial Day, in Memory of Chad Mechels. I understand, the depth of your loss.
