Default Denver Post-May 24

Hope you all are enjoying the Memorial Day weekend. Just a quick note to let you folks know the Denver Post has a real nice three page spread in the travel section of today's Sunday paper featuring Rapid City and the surrounding area.

A few things they are discussing; the 114 mile George S. Mikkelson trail, the Crazy Horse memorial, Mount Rushmore National Park, the Black Hills, and other features of your great state. A lot of good pub is going out on the "Black Hills Insiders Guide", giving some info on recommended stops like Dakota Cowboy Inn Restaurant in Custer, Mangy Moose saloon in Hill City, the Sage Creek grille in Custer, and lots of other places.

Also some brief articles on Harney Peak, the 1880 Train, the Sunrise Ranch in Edgemont, and lots of other places.

Check out the Denver Post online if you can. It's in the Travel section, done by Kyle Wagoner of the Post.

Thought you folks would like to know.

That's neat Double H! I had a subscription to 5280 Magazine (Denver-Boulder's local magazine) and they often had ads about Black Hills lodges and Black Hills attractions. I think the Black Hills are a popular vacation retreat for Denver city-dwellers.

They are! When you think about it, Denver is not far from Rapid City at all, I'm guessing 350 miles or so. I believe you can drive it in 6 hours, maybe a tad less.

Yeah that's about right. I've made it in 5 hours before. You can get to Fort Collins in about 4 hours too. What's nice about the Black Hills is that it's much like the Rockies but without all the people and traffic.
