Smile Gettysburg,Nicest Town in South Dakota

Please register my vote for Gettysburg as the nicest town in South Dakota. Lived there for two years courtesy of the U.S.Air Force in 1956-1958.
Made lifelong friends with some of the residents, and still keep in touch.
My wife & I attended the 50th reunion of the airbase and had a great time, will
look forward to the next one in 2010.

I love Gettysburg. Well, not so much the town, but the people. I haven't spent much time there, but know a bunch of people that are great and love to have a good time.

Home of what might be the most popular steakhouse in SD. I've never been there, but have sure heard about it.

That's true. Whenever we are there, we never have time to eat there...but I would like too.

I've heard that as well. Sometime I'd like to visit and make my own decision.

Been there twice last time was 4 years ago. And before that was in 2002. Both times I was vastly unimpressed.

The Cattleman's east of Pierre, and the Rocken' R at Hermosa are two of my favorites.

Love the Cattleman's. Never been to the place at Hermosa.

Now, I had no idea Gettysburg had an Air Force base. I would be interested in that history.

I got my first taste of the town when I performed for a fundraiser with some of the townfolk. Many of whom I consider friends since then. What a good time!

It was a radar base. In fact on the hill north of town there are the remains of the installation. Was used before NORAD got up and totally running.

Sorry, but no South Dakota steak can compare to the cornfed beef of Nebraska! Mmmm...
