Not really. Middle of July Hill City Should be doing the heart of the hills celebration of some sort. It seems during this season there should be something happening.

Sioux Empire Fair - WH Lyon Fairgrounds

This is what I found for the fair schedule. BUT I could've sworn that I heard Kool 98 say that the Grass Roots were going to be at the fair.

AND if anyone has any info about Journey coming to Sx. Falls, please let me know. A friend of mine said they were going to be there in July. I found their schedule on Pollstar and they are in the area, but it's out in Rapid City. But who knows how often that is updated???

Cotheran, you could check and see what is going to be at the Civic Center in Rapid City. There are a few members here that live in RC. and they might know.

Also, if you will still be there in early July, Belle Fourche has a rodeo that is very popular. Deadwood also has quite a bit of entertainment ranging from street dances to antique car shoes, etc.

Are you thinking of the State Fair Jammie? I think the Guess Who and Grass Roots are playing one of the nights here.

Edit - Don't know how reliable this site is, but it has Journey in Sioux Falls in July.

Journey Tickets - Journey Concert Tickets, Journey Tour Schedule
Looks like they would just be coming back from overseas.

Holy wow, $122 for the cheapest ticket, and you have to buy two.

Here's the State Fair link.

Leroy, thank you for those links. After looking at the Sx. Empire Fair link, I figured I'd heard wrong. I always start listening when they're halfway through something and then it takes forever until I finally catch it again.

BUT we'll definitely go to the state fair if the Grass Roots and the Guess Who are there. We're seen the Roots several times and the Guess Who only one time. Both are fabulous bands.

Unfortunately, even that pic of the Roots is outdated. I'm not sure if Chris Merrill ever rejoined them because he was fighting bone cancer. At one point, they even had a sub performer for Rob Grill because he wasn't doing well. He's had hip problems/surgeries for years, but there was something else wrong~can't remember exactly what it was right now. We love their songs though.

The Guess Who are pretty cool, too. They have a few very nice songs. I'm still not sure why I like the song "American Woman", but the way the crowd acted at the concert, I'm not alone. The words to it aren't too flattering.

Foreigner is at the State Fair, too and I'd love to see them, too. We've never been to one of their concerts.

I'll have to recheck the link you provided to see the times of the shows because it looks like both of them are Sept. 6th.

As far as Journey~I'd LOVE to see them but that is very expensive for tickets. SO, I checked Ticketmaster and they are evidently not on sale yet. I'll keep my eyes open though and if anyone gets anymore info, please post it.

Thanks again for that info.

OK, just adding~I checked out the ticket prices in a few other areas. WOW!!! It makes the Sx. Falls prices seem cheap. Just as an example, I checked the one out at the casino in OK and their tickets are 379 apiece. That's kind of odd cause OK prices are very comparable to ours.

Oh, and what's up with the casino in Flandreau? They used to have a lot of concerts. I haven't checked out their website recently, but it was under construction for several weeks.

Good info Jammie. We were lucky enough to see Foreigner a few years ago in Sioux Falls while Lou was still with them. However, we did see them in Sioux Falls last year without Lou. The new guy does a pretty credible job, but it is hard to be Lou.

Not sure about the casino. I know the one up by Watertown used to have acts once in awhile. Maybe I'm just not hearing about it.

I'm glad we get the Argus at work. There have been several events that I would have missed without reading their little entertainment insert.

I believe the fair is waiting to announce one more act. I guess it would be Thursday? Haven't heard any rumblings on which way they are going (rock/country).

I care not for Sioux City or Michael Bolton. Nothing personal... They both serve a purpose, just keep em both far away from me.
