Default Up in the hills

if you plan on swimming up in the hills there are two or three good lakes where you can,, for free... many go to horsetheif lake near keystone and sheridan lake near hill city,, the water is kinda cool in summer and there are NO lifeguards,,, some prefer to go to pactola res on 385 north of hill city or angostura lake near hot springs,,,, theres always the new municipal pool on mt.view rd, in rapid....waterfalls are kinda scarce but exist and are remote,,one nice one near rochford sd,,,, beware of those who would rent you equipment to mine their gold mine,, its a scam used by a few unscrupulous miners who lure tourists with fast talk...... the waterfall is near one of these claims in rochford..... a good guide can tell you where you can develop your own mine and how to work the gravel for values,, learning how to find your own using simple tools and horse sense,,,and Im just as smart as my horse too.. good on you,,, enjoy the hills

Canyon Lake Spillway -lots of fun sliding down that over and over when I was a pup. It's just on the Westside too.

Hippie Hole -fun to jump into the water from the rocks. Located about a mile from Rockerville. Beware of the beer bottles and used condoms on weekends!

Angostora Reservoir -largest reservoir just 2 miles south of Hot Springs.

Sheridan Lake -small lake along Highway 385.

Pactola Reservoir -large reservoir along Highway 385 (prettiest lake IMO too).

Legion Lake -Custer State Park (CSP) $15 season pass

Sylvan Lake -CSP

Center Lake -CSP

Stockade Lake -CSP

Game Lodge Pond -CSP
