Isn't it wonderful? I love seeing the tourists here. I recently read that Corn Palace visitors was up by 2%. Not much to brag about, BUT considering this economy, it could be a lot worse.

I'm thinking that maybe more people will go back to traditional vacations. Instead of hopping on a plane and taking an extravagant trip, they'll head for the Hills or over to Yellowstone. After recently looking online at the cost of a vacation, that's what we may decide on doing. But it's not time yet. We just took a vacation the end of Dec.

I was at Wally this morning too! I love the tourists and the money they bring, but man they make it hard to live here during the summer. Traffic is crazy slow, parking lots are packed, and everything get's expensive!

Walmart insider tidbit.... at Walmart we let them park there only because they on average spend about $300 per unit on merchandise at the store. It really helps our local economy. oh, and btw, for those who don’t know, our store is the third busiest in the company

I've heard that we have one of the top 5 busiest WalMarts. I've also heard that Applebee's on Haines Avenue is the busiest in the US too. Just goes to show that we need another WalMart and some development on the Southside.

Hah - funny - here in Phoenix, the traffic dies to nothing, hotels are giving deals and our tourists are mainly conventions and golfers. We send the mom and pop tourists to you with our special "Triple Digit Package." It was over 100 today... and on we go. Brave me, I'm organizing a neighborhood yard sale for the weekend. Think I'll drag my Swamp cooler out to the tent...

Glad to hear SD is so open to tourists. Since we are coming for a visit this summer, I was wondering if I could get a couple of recommendations for hotels in both the Rapid City and Sioux Falls areas. We are looking for clean, safe and middle of the road price-wise. Any input would be appreciated .
