Unhappy Rapid Valley area of Rapid City (Ashnat)

Hi! This is for those of you who live in the area we live in.. My daughters bike was stolen from our apartment building last night or early this morning. We put up signs around our buildings and at Valley View Elementary. Its only 5 months old so still very new to my daughter. I thought I would mention it on here incase anyone in my area happens to see it. It's bright pink and black, 20 inch and has wheel spokes. I know Ashnat lives in this area, so thats why I put her name on here.

Ive got a very sad girl and am very upset myself.. it was a pretty expensive bike.

that stinks! I'll keep my eyes open for it. I'm off of Obrien a bit south of you, but we drive thru the neighborhood up there to go to Don's or the car wash.

Thanks! Cheyenne is very emotional over this.. first time anything has ever been stolen and her new bike is her favorite thing she owns. I figure with all the people aware of it, the police keeping an eye out (our neighbor is a police officer), if there is any chance of it showing up we've done all we can.

Be sure to check craigslist and e-bay in case someone is trying to sell it.

Thanks, that is a good idea, I will do that.

On better news.. my daughter received a free used bike from the Yellow Bike Program and Reconditioned Bikes for Kids, Inc. I received an email from the guy that operates the program who saw the post I left on a website about the stolen bike. My daughter now has a bike to ride and is thrilled. It really is a great thing these people do. If we get lucky and find her bike that was stolen we will just bring this bike back to him to make another child happy. We also plan on donating my youngest daughters bike to them when she gets her new bike for her birthday. Just thought I would share the good news.

That's been our experience with people here, too! We were talking to a clerk in Safeway while I was filling out a form for their card, and the lady mentioned that the house next to hers was going up for rent! There wasn't even a sign on it, and we got into look at it, and we are putting a deposit down on it tomorrow! I went back to the store tonight and when I saw her, I said "Hi, neighbor!" and she gave me a huge hug! People here are wonderful - she never even had to say anything to me, and because of her, we found a great house in a great neighborhood!

I've had bikes stolen before when I was little. Usually you'll see a kid in the neighborhood riding it within a week or so. Grab it from them then!
