Question Driving from Denver to Rapid City

I July my husband and I are flying into Denver from Florida to visit our son in Rapid City. After renting a car we will be driving to Rapid City. Mapquest suggest to take I25 to US18 then SD79-N. Is this the best way? Many of you gave advice on his move in November--- Well he made in through the winter and still loves it there. We may never get him back to Florida.---of course really liking his job makes a big difference--- Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Yeah that's the way I always go. It's a pretty desolate drive but I always kick up the speed on Highway 18. From DIA it's about 5 1/2 hours to Rapid City.
