We drove around today looking for my daughters bike and saw her bike laying against a house quite a ways south of where we live. A police officer went to the house and brought the bike home for my daughter. The people who live there claim they found the bike in a ditch.. not sure if I believe it lol.
But anyways.. my daughter has her bike back and I wanted to thank you all for the kind words, help and tips!!
there are many in our society that do not think bike theft is really a crime.
its unfortunate that people think that way. I didnt think much of it, because bike are a dime a dozen now days and cheap. but this one was her first real bike and it was bought for her birthday by her grandma and grandpa.
that is what got me. the crying and loss she felt was pretty hard for a 9 year old. i am old school. i say.. suck it up. we will buy you a new one later on.. toughen up. but no.. LOL. kids now days are just to soft.. so had to coddle her and momma had to find out what happened. lol.
but, being a person who fires people for stealing a 1.39 candy bar. I do have to say. not matter what value. if its not yours.. its stealing..
That is wonderful news!!! Tell your daughter that we're happy for her.
I was kind of disappointed when you had first posted that. You just recently moved here and ended up being a victim of crime. It just didn't seem like it was the proper welcome to our state. I'm just glad everything turned out well.
RJL, that is a VERY good point! I hadn't even thought of that.
I am happy your bike turned up. Kind of a hard life lesson for a kid to learn.
Though I can't help thinking about the lowlife that thinks it is ok to steal a kid's bike (assuming it wasn't another kid - and if that is the case, it is a chance to teach that kid a life lesson as well). You know, things like repainting 'hot' property, scratching off serial numbers, etc.
I'm surprised that the parents backed up their kid that stole your daughter's bike. If it had been me stealing another kid's bike my mom would have gotten out the wooden spoon and whooped my *****!!

Years ago while working for Target, my hubby had to bust a Salvation Army bell ringer for stealing a bottle of lotion for his hands. Stealing is stealing.
Can I ask where??? Quite a ways south of you may be my street you know
