Rally Week's almost here - Prices already higher in Sturgis
Had to go to Ft. Meade VA today. Filled up the truck here in Rapid - thankfully! Paid $2.25 here - the same grade gas (10% ethanol) that I saw in Sturgis was $2.55 - up to $2.65.

$2.55 and higher was what I seen through out most the state in recent travels. Rapid was the only place this past weekend or any place statewide since may that the price of gas was lower than $2.30/gallon. So fuel prices along hardly indicate a trend.

Fuel prices on the Wyoming side approaching Sturgis have been running $2.45-$2.60 for a week or better.
This site will show you prices anywhere. GAS PRICES.

I used to work for a 1-800 multi-hotel chain... The rooms in that area are outrageous... Hundreds and hundreds of dollars for one night... and its booked up back to Murdo.
I feel bad for the residents of Sturgis....

Yup. Gas in Belle was 2.35 yesterday, 2.45 today. Think I will wait until Rapid to fill up tomorrow! Feel bad for any of us who live within 50 miles of Sturgis! We will probably go in one day just to see the spectacle, but otherwise, you couldn't pay me to go near there! We have a trip to Bear Country the day the Rally officially starts, and that is probably the last time I will venture to anywhere but work! We are bringing in 6 extra Rangers to help with security, and they all have to stay at Ft. Meade - thankfully, for their sakes, the property is closed for the week, so they should be able to get some sleep when they are off duty!

Deadwood was 2.55 also. But I have noticed that in the last couple years the northern hills have been 10 to 30 cents higher than rapid and we have also had some of the cheapest gas in the state for that time period also.

Yep, it's the time of year where my mom refuses to leave her house unless she's going to work or is starving. Personally, I think the rally is overrated. Just leather and gas fumes... but if it brings in revenue, I don't complain.

Gas in Sioux Falls is $2.16 per gallon for the super unleaded, which is a bargain. I am sure that there is a premium being charged for gas in Sturgis (kind of like the hotel rooms being $200 or $300 when in fact would be $75-$90 other times of the year).

I like the leather, gas fumes, and some of the skin. (not necessarily in the order) But large groups annoy me. When I was working Rally 03 I lost count of the number of Meade County vehicles heading east, as I was driving west.
Try $2.54/gallon gas in Pierre.
