Oh thanks. I looked at the sight and thought it was mostly OTR. I will definitely contact them. I used to drive Redi Mix also. A buddy that I worked with was from the Rapid City area and said you usually had winters off or you were busting concrete out of the drums. Any idea on pay? Down here a driver usually makes about $8 - $10 an hour and the $10 is tops I took a 2/3 pay cut moving from Az to Tx...it is depressing.

Mini I wouldn't personally know but I'd think our pay is similar. Keep in mind that cost of living is lower though. Rapid City has many trucking companies because of our central location.

Not sure but 11 to 12 an hour comes to mind.

I called Trimac and they were a great help. Very friendly and willing to answers lots of my questions. Thanks for the suggestion. The pay seems to be a little more than here.

That's wonderful. So are you making plans to move up this way?

We have been scouting the real estate magazines and looking. We have horses so that limits our areas. We are looking at $200,000 and under and at least a 3 bdrm/2bth home that allows at least 4 horses. I have been in contact with a great real estate agent that has been so helpful. We also don't want to be too far out of Rapid City, I don't want a long commute to work. About 20 - 25 miles would be as far as I would want to go. My wife wants some trees and not wide open prarie land. The kids want trees too. So we are looking and looking hard because we do want to get out of Texas.....and fast....we miss nature and doing things. There is nothing to do around here and I'm, we are all bored.

Mini, if you want trees, terrain, and a close commute to Rapid City, I'd suggest looking at the Hart Ranch-Spring Creek-Highway 16 area. Seems like many places out there have horses. Not sure if you can get anything under 200k though....
