Truck Driving jobs in Rapid City area??
CDL Truck driver looking to relocate to the Rapid City Area. Can anyone help me with jobs? Pay? Looking for local driving, not over the road. Open to any industry. We are putting our house on the market here in Texas and looking to relocate but would like to have a job lined up first. Thanks!

Gosh, the only thing I can think of is to check the want ads in the Rapid City Journal. I'm surprised that we've had a few Tx. relocatees (word?) recently. Is it the hot and dry summer that is encouraging people to leave?

Trimac always seems to be looking for drivers. That is a decent job and nice run too.

Our reason for leaving is the low paying jobs unless you are living in the metro plex area and there is nothing to do here in Tx. We are originally from Az where there was SO much to do but the heat got old after awhile. We love to do things outdoors as a family and the Blackhills area has really caught our eye for quite awhile now. We have 24 acres here and for riding the horses, you are land locked. We have cattle ranchers all around us so all of the land is fenced off. We love to ride out and just go and enjoy the outdoors We like to fish, hike and bike also There just seems to be so much to do up there after looking at several magazines that the realtor sent us and doing our research. BUT, we need to find out about the job market. If we find out about that and all looks good, Rapid City (area) here we come

What is Trimac and is there a number so we could call them? What do they haul and when you say "decent" what does that mean? LOL Does anyone know what a driver gets paid up there? Ball park?

Now I'm going to date myself. haha My father drove for Bruce and Harold Buckingham when they had 2 trucks and 3 drivers. By 1965 they were the third largest trucking company in the US. They were out of Rapid City. My dad finally retired at age 65. He lived to the age of 92. Not bad for a guy that ate what he could over the road.
I drove back in the early 70's. Decided I would be better off doing something else. haha
Rapid is a thriving city and there should be all kinds of CDL postitions there. Some of the best runs were between Iowa and Washington state. I had a steady pull from Iowa to Spokane.

Thanks rjl78. I am looking more for a company that has local hauls where I am home every night. It looks like Trimac is only OTR. I will contact them to find out for sure. Thanks.

Trimac is local. Most of their runs are for coal from Gillette to Rapid City. Its a regional gig.

There is Pete Lein and Son's and Hills Material running dump trucks. Mainly dump and pup or Redi Mix trucks. However there you usually get a winter vacation.
