Question Special Education in the Northwest

Is Rapid City a good place for special education? Vision services in particular. We need a place that has resources for Braille instruction, O&M instruction, and vision teachers. How about outside of Rapid City? What's the general consesus for that area of SD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My husband is looking at a job in RC, but we need to be sure our son will get what he needs. Thanks a million.

I believe there is a special needs school in Rapid City, or at least there once was. It's called Kibben Kuster. The places in South Dakota that would have the best resources for special needs are Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Spearfish. I believe that Spearfish's university (BHSU) has a special education teaching program so maybe the schools up there have special programs too.

I think BusySW would give you a better answer than me though. Hopefully she comes along!

Oh. great info. I will have to look up the University there--they are often great resources for the surrounding area schools. I didn't think of that. thanks.
