Sioux Falls is nice. If you like the smaller towns there are plenty within short range of town. Hartford, Humbolt, Brandon, Garretson etc... That is the short list. All are nice communities too.

I didn't realize the lower Midwest isn't exactly like we are here. But I've never lived there so I wouldn't know.

Yes, centrist generally implies middle of the road politics or independent stances on particular issues. In terms of being socially conservative, I think the Lower Midwest is much more in your face and vocal regarding personal religious beliefs. The Upper Midwest populace tends to be more reserved and private with regard to religion. This is just my opinion.

You'll find a lot of nice "bedrom communities" just outside of Sioux Falls and Rapid City. Sioux Falls has Brandon, Tea, and Hartford. Rapid City has Summerset, Piedmont, and Box Elder. All these smaller towns are growing with people that do not want to live in the city but still work/play in the city. Plus, these towns can be cheaper too.
You can find a new 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car home for under $200k.

Wow Pie, you're right. I'm not sure what's up with that. I checked out your site and I'm wondering if it's accurate.
Here are the CD stats for year-round crime there and it's very low on average~

Have you tried the listings on the SD Department of Labor site? You can register and search by city or county. I don't know where your skills lie, but there is quite a bit on there right now! There is also a site for the SD Bureau of Personnel, but most of their listings show up on the DOL site!

Yes, I registered with the state site 12 years ago and check it often.
I haven't checked the bureau of personnel though. Thank you!

Not sure what your qualifications are, but it looks like the Sanford Lab at the old Homestake mine will be doing more hiring soon. They have a few positions listed already.
