Huron,SD??
Hello!!!
I haven't been back to South Dakota a long time. What does Huron,SD look like now?? What are the most common crimes in Huron,SD?? What area of Huron,SD is better?? What hotels would you recommend in Huron,SD?? I hear that a Wal-Mart in Huron,SD is building there. I hope Huron,SD grows again. I hear the population is dropping. Are the prices for homes affordable?? I am just checking?
Thanks!
Chris Flynn

Hi. We only live 55 miles from Huron, but don't get up there often. The homes in So. Dak. have taken a jump the last few years, but you can still buy a very nice house for $100,000. Huron is supposed to be getting a Super Walmart, as I understand it. I wouldn't really say that Huron is growing though. They've had a couple of big closings in the past. They had a big meat processing plant that closed a few years ago. As far as I know, they're holding their own, but aren't making any big strides. As for crime, Huron is like most of the SD cities~they're crime rate is about half the national average. They don't have much violent crime, but have auto thefts and similar things. You probably already know that there was a college that closed up there about a year ago. If there's anything else I could answer for you, please let me know and I'll try to find out for you.

Also, a few murders happened recently there. The new supercenter made other things take off. Its growing. I used to live there. I dont know about the people there right now. The huge turn of events in 2006-07 may have cleaned up Hurons outlook on life.Havnt really taken a gander, but going to the races every wkend this summer. Nothing has closed yet since the new WalMart. Im immpressed.

According to the 2006 estimates, Hurons population just dropped below 11,000 for the first time. Havent hear of any big closings there recently, so hopefully it will stabalize.

Grew up in Huron, glad to be out. Not much ever changes there, even now. Haven't been back there since my nephew graduated high school about 6 years ago, don't feel like I'm really missing anything to tell you the truth. Run into friends from Huron in Sioux Falls all the time, apparently they got out too. Oh, and by the way, State Fair has only gone down hill. Grew up about 3 blocks from the fair grounds, had a ball every year. Couldn't pay me to go there now.
