OK, let me see if understand this correctly. You will work in Custer and your wife will go to school in Rapid. Is that correct? If so, you may seriously want to look in the Rapid area. If you live in Hot Springs (which is a neat town) you will BOTH be driving a lot of miles in the winter storms.

That's the way I saw it. You need to live in Rapid. You can commit to Custer. It's a 30-45 minute drive, but you need t do it for your wife. They will understand if you can't make it. But,the cummute to Rapid is important.

Thanks again for all of your help out there. It looks like Rapid City is going to be our best bet from all of the advice given to us. I feel much better about the idea of myself driving on winter roads than my wife(although she is a Fargo,ND girl and is more than capable in winter driving conditions). I will update all of you once we get settled (moving date 6-4-07). I cannot emphasize enough how much we appreciate all of the time you folks took out of your daily schedules to respond. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and be safe out there

I am also thinking of relocating to Custer SD as soon as my house sells. How is it to work at the STAR Academy? I am always seeing jobs posted there. Please let me know. It is a beautiful area in Custer and hopefully by now you have found a house and your wife is doing on-line course studies!

I was just curious. I work in corrections in Florida. I will be retiring to Rapid City in about two years. I will probably want to work more. How do you like Star Academy?
