Where is the best place to live if you will be working on the Rosebud Reservation?

The city of Murdo is on I-90 which runs near the north border of the Rosebud. I believe it is hwy 83 which runs south from Murdo, thru the Rosebud. Murdo is the largest town for about 100 miles in any direction and has the greatest selection housing. Another source would be to ask your employer housing info or possibly pick up an RV to live in. I've been thru there a few times and it is beautiful country, but housing on the Rez is sketchy.

I'd say it depends where on the reservation you are working. Mission is centrally located on the rez and large enough that you might be able to find housing there. You could also look at Valentine NE and Murdo but both of those would involve long commutes.
