Default Moving to Aberdeen

Hello!

I will be moving to Aberdeen in 2 - 3 months and I have been trying to find an apartment to rent. However, I can't seem to find any apartment websites with pictures, prices, layouts, etc. I have seen the list of apartments available in the yellow pages, but it's hard to make a decision without seenig the place first. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, if anyone has any knowledge/advice/suggestions/comments about Aberdeen it would be greatly appreciated! I have been researching online about the area, but it's always to nice to have a little first-hand knowledge. Thank you very much!

I know a little about Aberdeen. As far as the rentals I can't really help you there.

Aberdeen has been growing quite a bit in the last five years or so, the east side especially. I think the population sits at around 25,000. I was just there over the weekend, and was surprised at the changes.

The Good:
Storybook land, and general upkeep of parks
2 colleges (NSU, Presentation)
Brown County Fair (though this year's entertainment list is lacking)

The Bad:
Weather (cold winters)

The Ugly:
Moccasin Creek (muddy and stagnant)

Finding an apartment in Aberdeen can somewhat of a challenge. The local property managers generally don't have websites with photos, floor plans, etc and they don't use national sites like apartments.com either. The best way to find a place would be to check the Aberdeen American News classifieds and to drive around. Here are a couple links to some new complexes in town (the second one is supposed to open in June 2010):

www.prairiespringsapartments.com/index2.html

Do you have any specific requirements like price, location, amenities? If so, I can maybe give you some better suggestions for places. As for Aberdeen, Leroy has a good list there. The winter is pretty brutal, and some people would call Aberdeen boring, but I'm a person that can entertain myself anywhere, so I don't feel that way.

Good luck!
