I don't know what makes people think they're not already among us.

I think they're already here.

You might want to clarify on that a bit.

Regarding ever meeting up with other advanced life-forms in the universe ...

Without the aid of modern travel what are the chances of a person from the central United States meeting a person from central Africa?

The chances of there NOT being life elsewhere in the universe is so small it is as close to zero as you can get.

The quantity of galaxies, stars, potential life-bearing planets, and distances involved are almost incomprehensible to the average person.

In order to get more participation from their side and accelerate our discovery a bit, we should launch some of our old nuclear weapons randomly out into space. These should be done on a regular basis and we could call it some Holiday and give people the day off to watch the launch in person or on the TV.

The launches could be rotated to different sites not unlike the Super Bowl or Final Four with the obligatory festivities leading up to the launch event. Don't know if I want to wait a year between launches but having them too often like every week may get old quick. Probably be good for the economy, though admittedly I have no conceivable idea why it would be so.

I would suggest we secretly write the co-ordinates of the Iranian Parliament or some snotty Parisian Restaurant on the first batch of missiles just to see what happens before we reveal who we really are.

Who knows, we may hit some asteroid or one of their missiles out there that had our name on it.

Here's one of my theories:

E.T. hasn't found us because E.T. doesn't WANT to contact us. If there are very advanced alien civilizations out there, then it's possible that they've had negative experiences when trying to reach out to other alien civilizations. Perhaps their species was almost destroyed by war or diseases brought on by hostile alien life forms. Perhaps they had to leave their home planet and find a new home on another planet. If that's the case, then what would be the motivation to reach out to aliens once again?

So, maybe E.T. just wants to be left alone and doesn't want to bother with us.

How do the greys give birth with such big heads....Maybe it grows big afterwards...Genetically enginered to expand after birth to occupy the massive brain inside....What is the purpose of the huge eyes...Maybe they act as vision and hearing organs...The greys make no physical sense really...Advance beings more than likely very advanced andriod type beings...or maybe exist as just energy...But if you really think about it DNA is just a really advanced machine and program code to tell the machine how to function...Only so many elements in the universe, and only so many ways they can function...Who knows maybe as far as life goes we are the center of the Universe...

I'm going to approach the question from a different angle. It is thought that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old, and that the earliest, most primitive forms of "life" formed within the first billion years.

Extrapolating from that, let us hypothesize that life could very well have formed on many, most, or nearly all non-incendiary low-temperature bodies. Once the molecules of the planet stumbled into a chemical composition that sustained life, that life remained a more or lest constant feature of the planet's chemistry, for billions of years. Sooner or later, the planet might pass through a brief stage during which conditions were right for the life forms to evolve into a variety of constantly changing habitat niches, and begin to compete with each other, triggering an evolution to fairly advanced forms, quite quickly.

So it is quite possible that a close examination of nearly every fairly large body in the universe with sub-gaseous temperatures and varied chemical composition might reveal that there are simple structures that meet a definition of life, just in a holding pattern waiting for optimum conditions to allow them to blossom forth. In a sense, then, it is possible that life is a universal constant, present almost everywhere, as a byproduct of chemical reactivity.

I like this supposition:

Quote:
The Fermi paradox itself is what prevents communication

Perhaps the Fermi paradox itself—or the alien equivalent of it—is the ultimate reason for any civilization to avoid contact with other civilizations, even if no other obstacles existed. From any one civilization's point of view, it would be unlikely for them to be the first ones to make first contact and therefore likely for them to face the same possibly fatal problems that supposedly prevented the earlier civilizations from contacting them.[unclear, confused] So perhaps every civilization keeps quiet because of the possibility that there is a real reason for others to do so.[4]

Fermi paradox - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In other words, the whole galaxy is full of lemmings, just like here on Earth.

If you are not referring to the ones in DC.

Do you believe in the Ancient Astronaut Theory?
Basically some scientist believe aliens (ET) helped us develop as a civilization in the past. They showed up in the past and helped create the pyramids, and other landmarks around the world, and with scientific advancements etc.
Some believe stayed around.

Just wondering because normally when I read arguments like yours it's followed by referring to the ancient astronaut theory.

It's a TV show I think on the history channel that is dedicated to that stuff, it's been airing for about 2-3 years now.

Pretty Interesting.
