Yes, astrophysicists are idiots. You obviously don't understand the scientific method.

Science and knowledge evolves.
Was Newton an idiot because his theories of gravitation had to be appended to incorporated relativity?
Was Aristotle an idiot when he postulated the Sun and the planets orbited around the Earth?

Scientists attempt to understand our universe with the knowledge they have at that moment in time. When new knowledge becomes available then theories are verified or altered. Scientists, on the whole, fully admit when they are wrong and are happy to alter their theories as this marks further progression of their knowledge.

Most of what we know about the modern world comes from this bunch of idiots who are usually wrong.
