Probably just the extended cool-down of the nuclear engine the aliens used to power it when traveling between solar systems. Note that spot sits in the middle of the engine bell, which looks remarkably like a crater. We all know that the easiest way to make a spaceship capable of interstellar travel is to use a convenient planetoid, hollow it out for maximal protection against radiation, and stick an engine on it. Parking in an asteroid belt gives access to new fuel and minimizes detection by inhabitants of the solar system.

More than likely, it's a side-mirror from an alien spacecraft that got knocked-off when it grazed the planetoid.

True...but they have found two lights on Ceres and scientists don't know what they are.

In any case we should know what it is soon. The Dawn probe will be entering orbit around Ceres March 6.

If it's aliens, I want one as a pet.
