Not to quibble, but the Earth is IN the Milky Way.

That's true of course, but the point of the video is to take you from the extreme large to the extreme small. It begins with a look 10 million light years away from the Milky Way and zooms progressively in by magnitudes of 10 ending not only with the Earth, but then going all the down to the size of quarks at the sub-atomic level. It's an amazing journey.

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. I think I've seen something similar. There's an online "atlas of the universe" or something like that that allows you to zoom out at 10X steps. It's hard to wrap your head around just how big the universe really is.

I have trouble with the time warp that goes with distance. We look further into the past with increasing distance!?

Sure. Whatever they see, the light from that object took X number of years to get here. So what they see now is what the thing looked like X number of years ago. A star they see today may have already blown itself up years ago, but that won't be evident until the light from that event arrives.

Yes. It's trying to visualize the universe with that distance/time distortion. Our view is high distorted by the distance.
