Hello, I have been pondering this idea for a short while now and want to voice it and gain feedback.
The idea is that when we look out into the night sky we can spot a multitude of stars some small some large but all close to identical to the naked eye.
My idea would be to make our sun stand out from the rest in the eyes of possible extra-terrestrial life, whome could be looking for signs of life as are we.
The fastest speed we know is the speed of light, would it be possible to send a satellite or satellite-like object to orbit the sun with a massive light changing lense that could make the light from our sun show signs of our existence to the far reaches of the solar system.
This idea if possible could make inteligent extra-terrestrial lifeforms notice us and make effort to contact us rather than searching in the dark.
true it could cause problems if the lifeforms out there are not friendly but knowing there was other life out there would change the way we think about alot of things and push for more interstella travel.

The biggest part of the problem in modifying the light from our own star in some fashion so another civilization could pick up the light difference, is it would take as long for the return light to get to their civilization as it did to get to the earth.
Our nearest Star is Alpha Centaury it will still take 4 year and odd number of months for a change in our star's light spectrum to reach our closest star.
If you start looking at stars in our own galaxy; it could still take thousands of years for light to reach these other stars, by then, we may have developed a faster than light travel method, and make our light change of our own star pointless.

Heck, that might make them think we're stuck in the 60s. Didn't many homes have white Christmas trees, with tricolor lenses illuminating them, back then?

The "massive light changing lense (sic)" changes the solar light into what exactly?
And how exactly would "light from our sun show signs of our existence"?
Solar light is simply that. It has zero correlation to telling anyone of any type of life form(s) on any nearby planets.
