I believe star wars scenario is probable, in that there are many different types of civilizations out there, many knowing about others and even interacting, battling with others, Im not sure if there is some 'galactic empire' who is trying to control the entire universe, but the other aspects of a star wars type world is likely imo, mankind/ earth is just not on the level to enter into this world yet.

It's a possibility, but many things go against our understanding of physics. I too believe that there are many sentient civilizations spread across the universe due to its scale. Not sure about a galactic empire or similar like society. The problem with that, is that information can only travel at the speed of light. Even if such a civilization were to expand across multiple star systems, they would have trouble maintaining any meaningful form of communication over huge distances that those systems would essentially become islands.

Of course, that's using current theory. If our model of the universe turns out to be fundamentally wrong then those are possibilities.

That is a flawed mindset, because its limiting their technology to OUR current understanding of the laws of physics, just because its impossible for us, does not mean its the same for a civilization thats been around a million+ yrs longer.

Its really pointless to have these discussions the more I think about it, our knowledge is just too limited, we end up basing all our assumptions on what WE CAN CURRENTLY DO or the ways we currently understand things to be/ how they work.

I always thought it would be funny to paint the moon to look like earth, just to screw with any alien monitoring station operator who happened to be on watch that night.

I think the science forum should be merged with the Elvis is still alive/Alien/Ghost forum, seeing that it has become that way where commonsense is replaced by dumbness.

If we want to discuss only orthodox subjects on here, then it suggests that we do not want to consider the fringe element - but thats where tomorrows science comes from. It happens all the time, when a fringe hypothesis is proved correct after a few years and more data. This is EXACTLY the problem with science these days - it does not want to tolerate scientists or others who think outside the box. Science does its best to deny, denigrate and destroy the ones who dare to voice other opinions and unfortunately you have just demonstrated a classic mindset example.

The way to change something is to be that change yourself. If you have a theory about Elvis and where he currently lives, them please share. Who knows - when we have more data on that hypothesis it may become mainstream science.

Have to remember they have been conditioned to think this way, they cannot recognize whats been done to them.

Ive mentioned the 'Invention Secrecy Act of 1951' in a few threads, but most people had no idea it even existed! The idea that the govt would suppress technology to benefit big industry and their level of control over the people is just too off the wall for most people to accept, even though this act is on the public record, its goal is pretty direct and clear..'to suppress any new technology that is too much of a potential problem for existing industry or Govt authority'.

The nearest civilization of any sort is likely to be hundreds, if not thousands, of light years away. Now they may have some other way of detecting us other than radio communication, but even that won't suggest anything other than, at most, a preindustrial civilization. The closer any civilization is to earth, the likelier it is there is a huge gap between humans and the aliens (they could be mere microbes and nothing more, or a billion years ahead of us).

It's not even that. It's mere conjecture.

The problem with this idea is that it requires a uniformity of action from all the presumably-abundant alien civilizations out there. Yet by what notion can be imagine such uniformity of agreement? It's virtually impossible to get anything approaching a consensus among human governments, but we're to presume that a number of disparate civilizations - not the same species on one planet, such as Homo sapiens on Earth, but radically different creatures from different corners of the galaxy - have agreed to behave in a certain way (Hands off Earth!) and abide by that agreement throughout the eons?

That's a tortured explanation.

Basically, it's an exercise in finding an excuse to resolve what some people want to believe (that many, or at least some, alien civilizations exist, and that they possessed technology far beyond that which we have) with the data (a complete and total lack of evidence for such alien civilizations).

They would be better off applying Occam's Razor and concluding that alien civilizations at such a level of technology are exceedingly rare if they exist at all.

How do you explain the recent revelation from the Pentagon about their secret studies in this area? They clearly stated they had recovered 'unknown metal alloys' from UAPs over the years and had these stored in various locations, some at Bigelow Aerospace, if they recovered these things, it means we are definitely being visited by something, from somewhere else.

This isnt the first time they have caught either, back in the 90s, then national security advisor Dick DaMato discovered a black arm of the Govt that was responsible for maintaining secrecy relating to Ufos.

Also keep in mind, this is likely the tip of the iceberg and more they are not divulging, they went to great lengths to keep the whole thing secret for many years, why would they do that if there was nothing to it?

Theres also the Brookings report from the 1960s, they concluded the general public was not ready to learn about this. They must have had good reason to base that decision on.
