Hope things work out on the long run. SpaceX is one of the most promising ventures of recent years.

I'm surprised though by the lack of information coming out about the event. Why would they keep so mum? Perhaps they're concerned about political ramifications?

Well, that's always the hope and the expectation. But as we've seen with other aerospace systems (Apollo, space shuttles, etc.) even when you think it's all ironed out, an issue can come back to haunt and kill. It's the nature of the beast. We can never truly let down our guard, or overlook the risks.
