They also told us that it would be 9-18 months to get in to see the developmental ped (depending on which doc we wanted to see). We took the 9 month wait doc, and also got on the wait list for cancellations. We ended up getting in after only 3 months.
The school psychologist contacted the special peds group, and was called back by the director. She is going to try to get us in earlier. I am encouraged.
Does your son have any food allergies or intolerance that you are aware of? It has fallen a bit out of favor but, personally I always suspect chemical reactions when other avenues provide incomplete or inconsistent results.
For example, are there foods with aspartame in his diet?
Maybe a gluten issue?
He does not ingest Aspartame much, although occasionally I catch him sneaking a diet soda.
Thanks for the input -- it's good to be aware of all possible causes...
Just an FYI....aspartame is everywhere even in things that aren't "diet". You would think that regular (sugared) gum would be made with sugar, right? Sadly, no they use fake sugar. There are only two that I know of (Double Bubble and Bubble Yum) that don't have fake sugar. Same goes for mints and vitamins and medicines. And almost anything that is marked sugar free or no sugar added.
Also, I would include sucralose and acesulfame potassium (AKA ace K) on this list and they are other "fake sugars".
Sorry...not trying to hijack the thread but this one is near and dear to me as we had serious issues with reactions to these poisons.
Good luck to you and I hope that you are able to find the answers that you need.

Very important input.
I bought a few containers of yogurt at my local supermarket the other day - they were labeled "low fat" but not "light" which is usually the tip-off for me that they contain aspartame. Well, got one opened, took a taste and sure enough there was the tell-take aftertaste. I checked the ingredients and yep, it was sweetened with aspartame.
You really do have to read every single package these days.
