Talking 8th Grade Graduation party ideas for a special needs kid...

Wow, I'm feeling a little weird about having to ask that question... I'm a professional party planner, for pete's sake! LOL!

I really just want to have a small party for my son, whose graduation fron Junior High is a HUGE deal! He has caught up after being behind three years... and he's caught up IN three years! I can't say enough about the Illinois School for the Deaf... but anyway...

His school is about 2 1/2 hours from any family, myself included, and he even lives almost an hour from there. (He is in a residential school, and they bus him to another program daily.) Complicated situation. Plus graduation is in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday! Who does THAT?!

I made a big deal out of my daughter's Jr. High grad a couple years ago, even though she didn't want me to. With my son it really IS a big, BIG HUGE deal. We are all so very proud of him, and he needs to know that!

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Have a great day, all!

You may get more input from the parents of special needs children on the "Special Needs Children" forum thru city-data.....try it out.

Congratulations! I know the joy of finally getting there myself. My autistic son graduated from high school last year! BIG DAY! :-)

Hope, it will be mostly adults, savev my 6 year old son. I hadn't thought about that... great idea!

Congrats, KKA! It's pretty monumental, that's for sure!

Thanks for the advice. I'll copy a link to it there.
