Default New, please help with schooling question

Hi, We are a family living currently in Fort Myers, FL. I am from NYC and have lived in Miami. We have a 9 yr old son who has many issues, including ADHD Touettes, OCD, PDD NOS. He does have those outburst/anger issues which come and go. in the right environment he has them rarely. I am desperately seeking how find the best school for him. He has been to one to two diff public schools over every year since pre k, and now in 3rd grade, things are not going well at his public school. he needs a highly stimulating but therapuetic type program which is creative and non rigid. I dont know how to go about finding a school, in FL or otherwise. Does anyone have a tips for finding or how they found a unique private school? Thank you!

Look at the Florida State Board of Education Website. They have a section for alternative schools. You can start your research there and then make phone calls and visits. Good Luck. I know it isn't easy but it will be worth it when you find the right school.

What about checking into Montessori schools? I would go visit as many private schools in the area to find the right fit for your son. Have you checked into the public schools and requested certain types of teachers for your son? I know the actual TEACHER can have a huge impact on the student not just the environment. Good luck.
