I was always doubtful that vaccines were the culprit; if they were, why wouldn't every child be affected to some degree? My daughter has had everything the same as my son, and so far no concerns with her. I wish someone could find the answer!

There simply isn't enough compelling evidence to link vaccinations to autism prevalence, and I'm glad that's being recognized.

I have long believed that my twelve year old daughters low functioning autism was caused by thimerosal in her vaccines. I do not believe that vaccines themselves cause autism ,but what is put in them can. We need our vaccines but I refuse to give my girls any more until I know they are "green".
Thimerosal was supposedly removed from vaccines, but it is still there in trace amounts. Trace amounts are more than enough to make thousands of gallons of water unfit for human consumption.

Personally, I do not think that the U.S. government will ever fully acknowledge what they have caused by allowing a KNOWN NEUROTOXIN to be used as a preservative in vaccines that were administered to millions of children. My daughter was a "floppy" baby with hypotonia that was finally diagnosed by a pediatric neurologist when she was 16 monthes old. That was followed by a lot of different tests and MRIs. One of the tests was a muscle biopsy that revealed that she has an incredibly high level of mitochondrial cells. We never were able to get an exact diagnosis but her neurologist told me that we could assume that she had some sort of metabolic disorder.

When I read about the Hannah Poling case it really resonated with me and I now believe that my own daughters underlying mitochondrial/metabolic disorder made her extremely susceptable to the mercury that was in her vaccines.

Why aren't peanuts deadly to everyone? Why doesn't everyone have a life-threatening reaction to a bee sting? When exposed to a cat, why do only my nephew's eyes swell shut, and no one else's? Beacuse some people are sensitive to these things, but most are not. Why is it so hard for people to grasp this, when it's common sense in most other areas of life?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound rude... just gonna step off my soapbox now.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion! FYI, allergies are different than exposure to toxins.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the coming years we learn that a % of the cases of Autism are triggered by vaccines or their additives. A court ruling is just that. It doesn't make the problem go away or address unanswered questions. To proclaim this case 'closed' suggests that the scientific/medical community nor the courts have ever been wrong.

Could the vaccine have triggered "someone's" autism? Sure. Could it be totally harmless? Certainly.
How do we know that something we did as parents didn't create the situation prior to birth? You don't. Could it have been an allergy that was triggered in the parent that passed something to the fetus? Well, I guess it could and until they know for sure how autism starts we'll never know.
It seems people like to be able to blame someone when something doesn't go as it should sometimes with good reason and sometimes not. Then there are those who want money off the backs of their misfortune just because they have a child that's different not because something happened.

I don't blame anything for my autistic/ADHD son, he is what he is and he got at least part of his condition from genetics so who's to blame? All I expect is the schools to do what they are paid to do and required by law and for him to have the help available so he can become a useful citizen someday. If they don't then we have a problem.
