I have a developmentally delayed child, age 3, who will need special ed services. We are moving either to Norman, Oklahoma or Lawrence, Kansas, (both university towns) this summer.

Does anyone have positive/negative experiences to share about special ed in either Kansas or Oklahoma? Please include your child's age and school district, if possible.

We lived in Oklahoma for 2 years (in Enid, no less, which is MUCH smaller than Norman), and found the services for our son with Autism to be very good. It was shocking to us. The school district in Enid provided services for our son that were right on par with what he had been receiving in a very large school district in Minnesota (which is an excellent state for special ed. services).

There are private school and familial support options for children with PDD-NOS/autism in the KC area, which is not far from Lawrence.
