Default Services for Autistic Children and Adults in Arizona

If anyone out there could give me their honest opinion on services for children and adults with autism in AZ it would be appreciated. Services as in agencies that work with people with autism or organizations that do respite and help them integrated into the community and find employment. Considering a move there in the future as the State I live in is primitive at best with services including medical care. My son is currently 5. Thanks to all!

Sorry no one has responded.
AZ is not the place unless you like a good fight with a good advocate.

I would suggest that you look into New York. My Brother and his 23 yr old autistic son live on Long island. NY has great services for autistic adults and children. My nefew is currently living in a very nice group residence with 24 hour care, work training and a host of other services.

Its not THAT bad here. I work for the Division of Developmental Disabilities in AZ as a case manager. I am in the early intervention dept and we start kids with alot of services when they get a diagnosis. We have ABA, hab, music, speech, OT and PT, and it gets to the kids early on. Then, when they reach 3, they go on into the Childrens unit and can get even more. I have seen alot of improvement in the 9 years I have been doing this. We do have budget problems now, but so do all states. I don't think our services will be cut. If you want more info, IM me.

PS PREscott AZ is NOT phoenix. ITs a much smaller community with very little to offer kids.

I just moved in the Cooliage school district and it is horrible. Me and my husband have to literally fight for our son to get the services he got in Chicago. I am interested to know where is a good school in the East Valley for autistic children where the staff has been properly trained? Thus far our expereince in this school district has been beyond horrible....words can not explain it.
