Post News, Mom forced to leave Tennessee to get coverage for autistic child.

SMITH COUNTY -- In 2006, Lori Glover left her home in Smith County where she had lived for 31 years. She now lives in Florida, separated from friends and family because of one reason: her daughter, Katie, was diagnosed with autism and Tennessee insurance companies will not cover her behavioral therapies.

Doesn't sound too unusual to me...when my son was diagnosed with Asperger's, we had lived in PA less than a year. After the diagnosis, many people assumed we had moved to PA from MD because of the wonderful PA laws for services. We didn't, of course, since the dx came later, but now I do know many parents of children on the spectrum who moved to PA to get services for their child, instead of staying on waiting lists in MD.
